Stresses that the globalisation of the food supply chain is not benefiting primary producers; points out that trade agreements, such as EU - Mercosur trade deal, will further undermine EU agricultural sector, and expose it to the competition, that is generally not in compliance with the social, environmental and animal welfare EU standards and has serious implications for the level playing field for EU producers as well as it raises consumers' concerns across the EU;

Considers that the public demand for fairer and more sustainable food systems needs to be addressed, taking into account social, environmental and animal welfare concerns as well as consumers' demands for more sustainable food, and calls on the Commission to clarify the conditions under which sustainable agreements can be exempted from competition law, namely in the framework of the current review of the Horizontal Block Exemption Regulations and related guidelines;
