C. whereas the Brexit Adjustment Reserve3(BAR) was established to provide support in countering the adverse consequences that Member States, regions and sectors experience as a result of the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the Union and thus to mitigate the related negative impacts on economic, social and territorial cohesion and support the renewal of the EU fishing fleet; whereas the shift in quota shares from the EU to the United Kingdom over the transition period agreed in the TCA will have major negative economic consequences for EU fishers; _________________ 3 Regulation (EU) 2021/1755 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 6 October 2021 establishing the Brexit Adjustment Reserve. 6. Opposes all decisions taken unilaterally that establish fishing opportunities which contravene international law or go against the best scientific advice available and thus call into question the credibility of international agreements and undermine the sustainability of the exploitation of shared resources; urges the Commission to take any necessary and proportionate measures to resolve the dispute or to force the United Kingdom, as well as third countries or regional authorities such as Norway and the Faroe Islands, into full compliance;
