Recalls that AI cannot only perform activities which used to be exclusively human, but that it can also acquire and develop autonomous and cognitive features, through experience learning; stresses that AI systems can autonomously create and generate cultural and creative works, with only minimum human input; notes, moreover, that AI systems can evolve in an unpredictable way, by creating original works unknown to their initial programmers; reiterates, nevertheless, that in the field of culture, artificial intelligence should assist and not replace the creative human mind;

Notes that certain AI functionalities have been developed to disseminate fake news and create deep fakes; is concerned by the many breaches in intellectual property legislation which may result from this and is, furthermore, extremely worried by the possibility of mass manipulation of citizens leading to attempts to destabilise democracies; calls in this regard for action to step up information and media literacy, with taking account of digital transformation an indispensable aspect thereof; calls for the development of software to verify facts and information to be a priority;
