CallsRecalls that agriculture accounts for 70% to 90% of water use in the world and that access to water is also an energy- use challenge (both in terms of production and extraction); calls, therefore, for coordinated and coherent 7. water management in developing countries with regard to its various uses (agriculture, energy production, industry, etc.), and calls on the European Union to provide better support to developing countries for sustainable water management; stresses the importance of fostering better energy management as well as reuse solutions for treated wastewater to limit freshwater consumption by means of wastewater treatment;
