Welcomes the proposal of the Commission in its communication of 20 May 2020 entitled "A Farm to Fork Strategy for a fair, healthy and environmentally friendly food system" to put in place a deforestation observatory, but considers it necessary that this initiative be accompanied by submitting, every 5 years, a report to the European Parliament and the Council on global deforestation in order to take appropriate measures in terms of reinforcing cooperation with third countries and safeguarding trade restrictions at the Union level;
