Calls on the Commission to set up a comprehensive framework for the external dimension of the Energy Union, with a specific focus on the promotion of strategic partnerships with energy-producing and transit third countries; in this regard, underlines the importance of stepping up energy cooperation with the United States; calls on the Commission to give its full support for projects by individual Members aiming at increasing their energy independence from Russia; this should take into account the current state of regional cooperation and the planning and development of major strategic infrastructure projects, such as the Southern Gas Corridor and Euro-Asian Oil Transport Corridor, including developing alternative routes and energy suppliers for those Member States currently dependent on a single supplierRussia;
