4a. In order to ensure a level-playing field between imported and EU fisheries and aquaculture products marketed on its territory, the EU should require that all products comply with the same level of conservation and management measures, as well as hygiene requirements imposed by EU legislation.

Insists on a stricter implementation of the EU legislation on labelling and consumer information, both in retail markets and in the hotel, restaurant and catering sector (HORECA); believes this is important for all fisheries products, both imported and EU-produced; considers that the implementation of the Control Regulation should be reinforced to this end in all Member States and that regulations should be adapted to cover all stages of the supply chain;
