summary
Adopting the report by Mrs Odile Leperre-Verrier (ARE, F), Parliament agreed to participation by Poland in the Community programmes Leonardo, Socrates and Youth for Europe. Should the EU budget be required to fund a financial supplement, Parliament calls on the Commission to inform the budgetary authority in advance. It calls for language preparation and training activities under the programmes to be concerned only with the official languages of the Community and the official languages of the CEECs (future EU Member States). It also calls for a steering committee at the end of the programme to draw up an assessment of the activities undertaken and of their impact on the adaptation of school and university educational systems, training and the integration of young people into working life, their integration in terms of European citizenship and their situation in general.
