  OBJECTIVE: to approve amendments to the Statutes of the Joint European Torus (JET), joint undertaking. SUBSTANCE: the proposal for a decision seeks to amend Articles 4 and 8 of the Statutes of the JET in the light of the judgment of the Court of First Instance of 12/12/1996 in joined cases T-177/94 and T-377/94. The proposed changes concern: - amendment of the regulations applicable to the staff of the Project Team; - amendments to the membership of the Joint Undertaking JET: membership of the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe (FZK) with effect from 01/01/1998; replacement of Ireland by Dublin City University as the Irish member; replacement of the Junta Nacional de Investigaçao Cientifica e Tecnologica by the Instituto de Cooperaçao Cientifica e Tecnologica as the Portuguese member; inclusion of the Österreichische Akademie der Wissenschaften (OAW) as the Austrian member. �
