  PURPOSE : to amend Directives 66/401/EEC, 66/402/EEC and 66/403/EEC on the marketing of fodder plant seed and seed potatoes. CONTENT : Council Directive 66/401/EEC on the marketing of fodder plant seed, Council Directive 66/402/EEC on the marketing of cereal seed and Council Directive 66/403/EEC on the marketing of seed potatoes provide for the carrying out of temporary experiments. A temporary experiment was organised pursuant to Decision 94/650/EC over a seven year period from September 1994 to August 2001 on the organisation of a temporary experiment on the marketing of seed in bulk to the final consumer will have no adverse effect on the quality of the seed compared with the level of quality achieved under the present system under Directive 66/401/EEC and 66/402/EEC. The results of the experiment have already shown that, marketing of seed in bulk to the final consumer under specified conditions has no adverse effects on the quality of seed. On the basis of the results of that experiment the present proposal also amends Council Directive 66/403/ECC on the marketing of seed potatoes since the same conclusion also applies to seeds of other plants including potato. �
