summary
PURPOSE : to amend Council Regulation 104/2000/EC on the common organisation of the markets in fishery and aquaculture product.PROPOSED ACT : Council Regulation.CONTENT : the expenditure incurred in the implementation of Council Regulation 104/2000/EC on the common organisation of the markets in fishery and aquaculture products has been financed by the Guarantee Section of the European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee Fund (EAGGF) laid down in Council Regulation 1258/1999/EC on the financing of the common agricultural policy. The Commission has implemented the budget related to this expenditure by shared management with theMember States. The new European Agricultural Guarantee Fund (EAGF) laid down in Council Regulation 1290/2005/EC on the financing of the common agricultural policy will replace the EAGGF Guarantee Section from 16 October 2006 in accordance with Article 3(2) of that Regulation. The EAGF will finance measures relating to fisheries markets by centralised management. It is necessary to amend Council Regulation 104/2000/EC in order to enable the application of the EAGF as regards the financing of the expenditure relating to fisheries markets. The Council is requested to adopt this proposal as soon as possible in order to ensure the continuity of the financing of the common organisation of the markets in fishery and aquaculture products.
