PURPOSE: to\n codify Council Directive 90/539/EEC.
PROPOSED ACT:\n Council Directive
CONTENT: the\n purpose of this proposal is to undertake a codification of Council Directive\n 90/539/EEC of 15 October 1990 on animal health conditions governing\n intra-Community trade in, and imports from third countries of, poultry and\n hatching eggs. The new Directive will supersede the various acts incorporated\n in it. This proposal fully preserves the content of the acts being codified\n and hence does no more than bringing them together with only such formal\n amendments as are required by the codification exercise itself.
\nThe Committee on Legal Affairs adopted the report by\n Lidia Joanna GERINGER de OEDENBERG (S-D, PL) approving, under the\n consultation procedure, the proposal for a Council Directive on animal\n health conditions governing intra-Community trade in, and imports from third\n countries of, poultry and eggs for hatching (codified version).
The text was approved as adapted to the recommendations\n of the Consultative Working Party of the legal services of the European\n Parliament, the Council and the Commission.
The examination of the proposal has enabled the\n Consultative Working Party to conclude, without dissent, that the proposal is\n a straightforward codification of existing texts, without any change in their\n substance.
\nThe European Parliament adopted by 641 votes to 15, with\n 6 abstentions, a legislative resolution approving, under the consultation\n procedure, the proposal for a Council directive on animal health conditions\n governing intra-Community trade in, and imports from third countries of,\n poultry and eggs for hatching (codified version).
The text was approved in accordance with the opinion of\n Consultative Working Party, consisting of the legal services of the European\n Parliament, the Council and the Commission, which confirmed that the proposal\n is a straightforward codification of existing texts, without any change in\n their substance.
