Calls on its relevant committees, such as the Subcommittee on Human Rights and, the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs and the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality, to intensify their cooperation with the relevant Council of Europe bodies and instruments and to establish structured dialogues so as to develop an effective and pragmatic synergy between the two institutions and make full use of existing expertise in this field;

Underlines that the situation of women in the Arab Spring countries is often critical to assess progress in democracy and human rights and that the guarantee of women's rights should be an essential part of the EU action towards these countries; also recalls that democracy entails the full participation of women in public life, as stated in international and regional instruments such as the Protocol to the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights on the rights of women;
