F. whereas the recent developments in the EaP countries and their relations with the EU are a warning that the EU is still not considered as the only political alternativeshow that the EU and its Eastern neighbourhood policy, which is tied to strict conditionalities and geostrategic objectives, are still not considered as the only political alternative and must constantly convince the citizens of the Eastern neighbourhood countries of the advantages they offer in the network of those countries' international relations;

Recalls the achievements and ambitions of the EaP, which is the political framework for strengthening relations between the EU and the Eastern Partners, founded on mutual interests, commitments, shared ownership and joint responsibility, as well as the institutional basis for political cooperation, and a forum for dialogue between the partner countries; welcomes, in this connection, the establishment of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly and other cooperation platforms, such as the EaP Civil Society Forum and the Eastern Europe Initiatives Congress; notes however that the recent developments in some EaP countries have drawn attention to the fragility of the political process and the need to free the EaP from one-sided conditionalities and geostrategic objectives and turn it into an instrument for mutually beneficial cooperation and partnership-based discussion within which solutions can be found to shared problems and challenges;
