WelcomesTakes note of the communication on a European action for sustainability, which serves as the EU’s as an initial response to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development; stresses that more needs to be done to identify potential policy gaps and to address these gaps through coordinated actions both at the European and Member State levels; therefore calls on the Commission and the Council, in all its formations, to pursue this work without delay;

Recognises that resilient and sustainable infrastructure is a key principle offor achieving a low-carbon sustainable future and brings a number of co-benefits; considers that any transition to a sustainable society can only be achieved by ramping upincreasing our share of renewable energy and continuing efforts to achieve better energy efficiency in building stock, appliances and the power grids; warns against lock-in of unsustainable infrastructure and calls on the Commission to propose measures for an orderly transition to a low-carbon economy in order to mitigate the systemic economic risks associated with high- carbon financial assets;

Underlines the need for a smarter and more sustainable agricultural policy and welcomes the initiatives to modernise and simplify the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), in accordance with SDGs 2, 6, 12, 13 and 15; underlines the need to ensure that CAP expenditures effectively achieve the set objectives through strict compliance and through greater coherence across policy areas, which is of particular relevance with regard to the sustainable management of natural resources and the instruments dedicated to this under the CAP;
