Stresses the need for more integrated approach to the investments in transport infrastructure, to improve work on multimodal connectivity and to increase investments in inland waterways and ports; calls on the Commission and Member States to encourage the evolution towards more active public sector involvement in innovation led transport solutions at national, regional but also at local/urban and rural level with the aim to develop smart transport solutions;
