A. whereas the transatlantic partnership is based on strong political, cultural, economic and historic links and shared values such as freedom, democracy, promoting peace and stability, human dignity and the rule of law; whereas a strong transatlantic cooperation based on the principle of a partnership of joint leadership and responsibility is necessary to weather the storm of multiple crises on both sides of the Atlantic as well as defend democracy against rising authoritarianism around the world; wheras close EU-US relations are crucial to building a more democratic, secure and prosperous world;
