Emphasises that, given its high level of interdependence and the singleness of its monetary policy, the euro area needs to be viewed as one macroeconomic entity where convergence must be promoted; calls therefore for an in-depth aggregate assessment of macroeconomic imbalances in the euro area to complement the assessment of country-specific vulnerabilities; insists on full coherence between the euro area recommendation and country-specific recommendations; stresses furthermore that the requirement of convergence within the euro zone must not result in the creation of a two-speed Europe or further accentuate it;
