(a) ensure, via a general clause in the agreement, in full compliance with the GATS and the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, that the parties to the agreement reserve the right to adopt or maintain any measure (in particular of a regulatory and/or financial nature) with respect to the protection or promotion of cultural and linguistic diversity, media pluralism and media freedom, and to preserve or develop, in accordance with the principle of technological neutrality, a regime for audiovisual services in line with democratic, social and cultural requirements;

Is opposed to the inclusion of ISDS in the TTIP, as ISDS risks fundamentally undermining the sovereign rights of the EU, its Member States and regional and local authorities to adopt regulations on public health, food safety and the environment. The jurisdictional system is sufficiently mature and stable both in the EU and the US so any disputes between foreign investors and host states can be appropriately settled in national courts;

Calls on the Commission to guarantee that the TTIP will be without prejudice to the right of the EU and Member States to adopt and enforce, in accordance with their respective competence, measures necessary to pursue legitimate public policy objectives such as social, environmental, public health and safety in a non-discriminatory manner.
