Environment Recalls that Kazakhstan is heavily affected by the consequences of two of the most devastating man-made environmental disasters in the world namely the dry-up of the Aral sea and the Soviet nuclear test site of Semey/ Semipalatinsk; calls on the Commission to step up the assistance to the Kazakh authorities both at technical and financial level in order to improve substantially water management and water conservation as regards the Aral sea basin and to develop an effective action plan for the cleaning-up of the former nuclear polygon area;
