Underlines that the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) intends to prevent the risk of carbon leakage on the EU market; states that it is essential to avoid the risk that products exported from the EU are replaced by more carbon intensive goods on the global market; calls on the Commission to present a legislative proposal to develop WTO- compatible solutions, such as an export adjustment mechanism, to be implemented to avoid carbon leakage on European exports, while preserving emission reduction targets; reiterates that in order for CBAM to be efficient in lowering carbon leakage, all possible circumvention practices should be addressed;
