Notes that the reduced appropriations earmarked for the EGF in the annual budget have been sufficient to provide the necessary assistance to dateassistance and support that is both vital and necessary for people who have lost their jobs as a result of structural changes; emphasises however that in the event of a significant increase in applications the appropriations should continue to ensure the effective functioning of the EGF;
