Takes the view that it is absolutely vital for the democratic legitimacy of EMU to be improved substantially within the EU’s institutional framework and in line with the Community method; considers that the pieces of legislation based on intergovernmental treaties and implemented during the crisis have hampered the democratic legitimacy of the EMU and the European project;
