Recommends that the Commission prioritise funding of projects and initiatives in Member States aiming to improve waterway transport through innovative solutions such as high-tech navigation, alternative fuels and efficient vessels; considers that the Commission should encourage multilateral European knowhow and knowledge exchange programmes also between different Union ports;
