Reiterates the importance of 5. drawing on rigorous and independent scientific opinions when assessing the state of fishery resources, so that management decisions can be taken which make it possible to achieve maximum sustainable yields (MSY); urges Member States to use EMFF funding for the purposes of scientific data collection which is key to enabling rational and science-based decisions to be taken on fisheries policy issues;
