Underlines the importance of the EU-CELAC summits as a strategic bi- regional partnership in a new framework for political dialogue, and; criticises that in the past the EU has given more importance to the commercial pillar of association agreements than to the political one, as in the case of the EU-Central America association agreement; calls on the EU and on CELAC to reinforce this partnership and political dialogue by working on clearly identified common interests in order to address jointly key global challenges in multilateral fora, such as the United Nations and the G-20;

RWelcomes the regional dynamics of integration in the LAC region, in particular the reinforced political cooperation established by the creation of the CELAC in 2010; reiterates its support to regional integration inside the LAC region, and stresses the need for greater coordination between the different regional integration schemes existing in the region, while respecting differences in the pace of integration; stresses the need to speed up negotiations in order to reach an EU- Mercosur agreement that could establish an economic area based on similar trade and investment rules for almost all LAC and EU countries; highlights the importance of keeping high phytosanitary standards and traceability for food products;

Calls for further cooperation in environmental issues, a major mutual interest, with special emphasis on the energy transition and decarbonisation process, which will have an impact on the economies of both regions; stresses the importance of supporting LAC countries with the means necessary to improve governance, enforcement and judicial procedures to protect forests and to expand agroecological farming practices; highlights the need to support research on and the deployment of renewable energies, the protection of nature, and policies to address the causes and consequences of climate change in a region that is acutely affected by its effects, taking into account the rights of local and indigenous communities in areas where natural resources are extracted; reminds of the responsibilities of European corporations in respecting ILO Convention 169;

Reiterates that the EuroLat Assembly is a very successful tool for the parliamentary dimension of the strategic partnership, and for the political dialogue between EU and LAC, including civil society, whose role should be reinforced, as well as an important vehicle for transferring citizens' demands to the EU- CELAC summits; stresses the importance of ensuring the visibility and diffusion of its discussions and conclusions, both via interaction with EU-CELAC summits and via national and regional institutional channels;
