Welcomes the additional steps taken to reinforce the protection of human rights, minority rights and anti- discrimination policies; insists that concrete long-term measures be taken to further improve the education, employment rates and living conditions for Roma, Egyptians and other ethnic minorities; calls the Albanian authorities to step up efforts to establish local mechanism for reporting gender-based violence in all municipalities, as well as to ensure cross- sectoral coordination with child protection and anti-trafficking mechanisms at local and regional levels;

Commends the climate of tolerance and cooperation among the country’s religious communities; calls on the Albanian authorities to effectively combat hate speech and, especially online, as well as the exclusion and discrimination of minorities, including LGBTI persons; urges the Albanian authorities to take further measures to tackle the so-called blood feuds phenomenon, which forces many families to live self-imposed house arrest in fear of their lives, by foreseeing mechanism to prevent it and by investigating cases of possible murders;

Expresses concern over economic activity that has led to environmental damage in protected areas, such as the hydropower plants along the Vjosa river; urges the authorities to step up environmental impact assessments and public consultations on such projects; furthermore expresses concern over the Trans Adriatic Pipeline’s project (TAP) and its environmental and social impacts; stresses the need to take into consideration farmers’ cultivation, the soil specifics or archaeological sites, and to comply with sound environmental standards;
