Calls for increased funding levels for all geographic and thematic programmes under the NDICI, in line with its first-reading position on the latter; reiterates its position that the thematic programmes within the NDICI, including on human rights and democracy and on EU elections observation missions, should be reinforced in order to allow the Union to maintain its strong role in these priority areas; calls in particular for a more ambitious budget in the human rights components of the instrument, in order to address the increasing challenges to human rights in the world, which face unprecedented pressures further compounded by the COVID-19 crisis;
