Stresses that Member States must do more to encourage the fishing industry to apply for EMFF grants allowing them to make the changes necessary to their fishing gear to minimise their impact on marine ecosystems and wildlife. and, to the extent possible, prevent the financial burden from falling on fishermen; at the same time, calls on the Commission and Member States to do more to promote the use of the EMFF or other funds to support campaigns for the collection of plastic at sea;
