Points out that the four main palm oil certification schemes (RSPO14, ISCC15, MSPO16, ISPO17) differ significantly as regards their requirements, effectiveness, uptake and transparency, that inconsistencies in their implementation and enforcement have been brought to light and that none of the systems covers all of the environmental and social issues addressed in the political objectives set by the EU and the UN; calls, as a matter of urgency, for the certification schemes to be adjusted accordingly and for determined efforts to develop deforestation-free supply chains;
