Highlights the potential of dual education in mountainous regions; points at the encouraging results achieved in Austria, Germany and other Member States; welcomes as well projects for dual education within the macro-regional EU Strategy for the Danube Region; calls on the Commission to come up with specific recommendations for overcoming the shortage of skilled labour in the tourism industry specifically addressing the challenges of unattractive jobs and insufficient remuneration, as well as for stimulating possibilities for professional career development;

SUnderlines that free and equal access to education and childcare facilities is a must for overcoming negative demographic trends in remote and mountainous regions; stresses that access to education should be provided taking into account above all the best interest of the child; supports innovative solutions for access to basic education in remote mountainous areas, such as through cooperation among mountainous regions and cities;

Recalls that social and economic development of mountainous regions, which in some member states are also remote regions, depends on transport links between them and the other regions in a given member state or trans-border regions; calls on the national authorities in cooperation with the Commission to facilitate implementation of projects for transport connectivity of mountainous regions with main national and trans- European roads and transport corridors using different EU funds and financial instruments, including EIB investments;
