Deeply regrets that, despite the efforts of the EU and its Member States, the EU’s objective of reducing gross tropical deforestation by 50 % by 2020commitment of halting deforestation by 2020, under the SDGs, is unlikely to be met, and therefore strongly supports the Commission in its proposal to step up action in protecting and restoring the world’s forests;

Calls for raising consumer awareness about the need to reduce on the Commission to come forward with a legal framework ensuring sustainable and deforestation-free supply chains for products placed on the EU market, while raising consumer’s awareness abourt consumption footprint on land and encourages people to consume products from supply chains that are ‘ing behavioural change towards those sustainable and deforestation- free products.
