Is of the opinion that digital and environmental transitionsthe transition to a highly energy and resource efficient, fully renewable based, net-zero GHG and toxic-free economy by 2040 should be at the very core of all Unions strategies until 2050; in this context, calls on the Commission to define a comprehensive industrial strategy which manages these transitions, fosters transformation and guarantees in line with the European Green Deals objectives, fosters transformation, guarantees regulatory and policy certainty and ultimately the Union’s strategic autonomy;

Is aware that market dynamics alone do not bridge the fractures created during the transformation process if there is no proper management of the transitions and no strong industrial policies; is, furthermore, aware that while markets, competition and innovation push fast towards transformation, it is society and the environment that face the impact of these transformations; considers that balancing out the number of jobs lost in traditional industries with new jobs created in the digital and environmentalgreen sectors is not enough in itself as these new jobs aremay neither be created in the same regions nor taken up by the same workers; considers industrial transformation as an opportunity to accelerate the complete phase-out of fossil fuels (including natural gas and all fossil-derived gases) and invest in renewable, clean and green production, making sure no one is left behind; calls on the Commission, therefore, to ensure that these transitions are fair and socially just, and that every action aimed at accelerating a transformation process (digital, environmental, etc.) is accompanied by a comprehensive vision and corresponding initiative to help the workforce to be as adaptable as possible, including through up-skill and reskill initiatives for workers, with the aim of leaving no one behind and managing the effects produced by that accelerated procestransition on both regions and people; stresses oin both regions and people; this regard the importance of digital skills and lifelong learning approaches;
