Stresses the need for a fair distribution of direct payments between Member States, which must take into account socio-economic differences, diffe; points out, furthermore, that equalising the level of direnct production costs and the amounts received by Member States under Pillar IIayments among the Member States is essential in order to ensure a level playing field in the EU’s single market;
