5. CallsBelieves that the social, environmental and human rights policies need to be conveyed through the EU’s various activities, including through bilateral agreements; notes, also, that no EU policy should hinder policies implemented by states parties to bilateral agreements on sustainable development and respect for individual rights and freedoms laid down in the European Charter of Human Rights; calls, therefore, for sustainable impact assessments and human rights impact assessments to be carried out, at bilateral level, before, during and after the negotiations; takes the view, also, that negoinsists, also, on the automatic activators should take into account to a greater extent the prioriion of any suspension clause in bilateral agreements in the case where serious infringements of bilaterally agreed social, environmental and human rights objectives and concerns that emerge from these impact stud/or standards are uncovered, and also on the establishment of an additional penalty procedure against the offending states parties;
