Points out that innovation in the transport and tourism sector provides enormous opportunities for EU businesses and insists on the need to develop new standards, where possible with a cross- domain approach, and uphold standardisation in order to ensure the proper implementation of EU initiatives in the field of digitalisation; considers that standards and common specifications is a clear requirement among others for the deployment of connected cars which could interact not only with the road infrastructure but also with other vehicles and devices (VtX model);

Points out that innovation in the transport sector provides enormous opportunities for EU businesses and insists on the need to develop new standards and uphold standardisation in order to ensure the proper implementation of EU initiatives in the field of digitalisation; notes that EU- wide standardisation will facilitate the introduction of regulatory frameworks for the use of online platforms headquartered in non-EU Member States, that offer new opportunities in the transport and tourism sectors;

Notes that ICT standardisation will be beneficial for the development of transport and tourism-related services; calls on the Commission to attach greater importance to this development when implementing its priority action plan for ICT standardisation, and to take swift action to promote interoperable solutions, such as the development of integrated and smart ticketing and new mobility concepts such as Mobility-as-a- Service;
