Points out that innovation in the transport sector provides enormous opportunities for EU businesses and insists on the need to develop new standards and uphold standardisation in order to ensure the proper implementation of EU initiatives in the field of digitalisation; calls on the Commission to adopt a single point of access to standards to ensure easy access to information and assistance on harmonised standards;

Notes that ICT standardisation will be beneficial for the development of transport and tourism-related services; calls on the Commission to attach greater importance to this development when implementing its priority action plan for ICT standardisation, and to take swift action to promote the development of integrated and smart ticketing and new mobility concepts such as Mobility-as-a- Service; reminds the Commission, moreover, to take into account the convergence of general and ICT standardisation;

Underlines that, due to the international nature of transport, the development of international standards is indispensable both to ensure interoperability and to broaden market opportunities for the EU industries; calls on the Commission to support the presence of European stakeholders in the international standardisation organisations and actively continue promoting the development of European standards at international fora;
