Welcomes the study on producer organisations and their activities in the olive oil, beef and veal, and arable crops sectors, which reaffirms the importance of these organisations and their associations in strengthening the position of primary producers in the food chain; regrets that producer groups are not organised to the same degree in the different Member States;

Reiterates that CAP support is designed inter alia to ensure the sustainability of farms and encourage farmers to produce quality food at reasonable prices; expresses its concern about the ever-widening disparity between the production price and sale price in the food sector; calls on the European Commission to identify and implement effective market measures that will narrow this gap and establish a balanced and sustainable correlation between the two;

Considers that the public demand for more sustainable food systems needs to be addressed, and calls on the Commission to clarify the conditions under which sustainable agreements can be exempted from competition law, namely in the framework of the current review of the Horizontal Block Exemption Regulations and related guidelines; calls for price calculations to factor in also considerations such as quality, innovation and social impact;
