Points out that most African countries, in particular LDCs (least developed countries) and African signatories to EPAs (Economic Partnership Agreements), enjoy duty-free and quota- free access to EU markets; draws attention, in this context, to the need for the EU to ensure that any unfair or anti- competitive practices on the internal market are averted, and especially those arising from the import of agri-food products;

Underlines the need for sustainable and innovative policitical measures that enablcourage African states to ‘leapfrog’ older and more polluting technologies with the goal of an ecological and social transition to sustainable agri-food practices; calls on the Commission, in this regard, to ensure a just transition towards compliance in African states with the commitments on environmental, labour and climate standards and on maintaining high safety and quality standards, but without this impacting on EU-Africa trade operations;
