2. Notes that mental illnesses are overrepresented among women in prison and that women are more prone to commit self- harm, suicide or have problems with drugs and alcohol abuse; calls on the Member States to improve conditions for women in prison by taking into account their specific needs, including by means of psychological support, prevention, monitoring and the treatment of physical and mental health problems;

Considers it essential that special attention is given to the needs of pregnant women in prison, not only during pregnancy but also after they have given birth, by providing adequate spaces for breastfeeding and nursing; considers it appropriate to reflect upon alternative models that take into account the wellbeing of children in prisons; Calls on the Member States to provide sexual and reproductive health services to women in prison;

Urges the Member StatesCalls on the Commission to establish as a priority an action plan to implement and evaluate the EU strategy for combating radicalisation and recruitment to terrorism with a specific gender approach policy, including recommendations to prevent the radicalisation of women in prisons on the basis of the exchange of best practice; Calls on the Member States to coordinate their strategies and share the information and experience at their disposal to take all the necessary action to prevent the radicalisation of women in prisons; points out that terrorist groups engage women in many different ways, including by marriage and persuading them to recruit others or to commit violent acts, including suicide attacks.
