Considers non-discrimination on the grounds of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, age and disability an essential part of the EU's values; deplores that in the area of education, EU law only prohibits discrimination on the basis of race and ethnicity; calls in this regard on Member States to adopt, as a matter of urgency, the 2008 proposal for a directive on implementing the principle of equal treatment between persons irrespective of religion or belief, disability, age or sexual orientation, which would protect against discrimination on these grounds in education;
