Stresses that 175 million people are living in poverty in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC); notes that inequality is the main obstacle to the region’s development; stresses that inclusive social development is the key to addressing it; emphasises the particular situation of exclusion, violence and discrimination suffered by women and girls, who make up almost 70% of the population living under the poverty threshold;
