6. Calls on the Commission to include a political benchmarksclause in the upgraded Customs Union between Turkey and the EU on human rights and fundamental freedoms, specially media freedom and freedom of expression; to protect the situation of women, LGBT, and minorities such as Roma people and NGOs; to ensure the judicial independence and the right of every individual to a fair trial, including through an effective access to a lawyer.
