Regrets that despite the sector-specific measures that have been taken, there does not yet exist a fully-fledged EU approach to mountain regions; proposes that clear criteria be established for defining mountain areas (e.g. a minimum altitude of 600 metres) and in this regard that efforts be made to adopt a common definition of mountain regions;
