Emphasises that the role of political oversight of the European Parliament is indispensable in a parliamentary democratic system; insists, in this regard, that no procedural constraints or political objectives should override or limit in time or scope the parliamentary scrutiny phase as regardsthe parliamentary powers regarding the scrutiny phase should be properly guaranteed as regards the conclusion of any international agreements, and in particular, those concluded in the context of a withdrawal from the European Union;

Believes that both the Brexit Steering Group as well as the UK Coordination Group structures created by the European Parliament in the context of the negotiations with the UK were of the outmost importance to guarantee the follow-up and the involvement of the Parliament in the negotiations; Further believes that this experience provided a good example of collective coordination between institutions;
