Welcomes the work done by the European Parliament Former Members Association in founding the International Election Monitors Institute in conjunction with the Former Members of the Canadian Parliament and the United States Association of Former Members of Congress; notes that IEMI members have observed a number of elections, and further points out that all present MEPs will one day be former Members and that their expertise will be invaluable for the further development of the democratic process;

Recognises that on a number of occasions European Parliament observation delegations have been short of numbers, and resolves that in these cases it may be thought useful to add former Members to make up the numbers; urges the appropriate political authorities of the European Parliament to follow up this suggestion;
