Underlines the key role that the European industry can play in actively engaging in favour of ambitious environmental and social objectives, including human rights; considers that for this to materialize, the EU needs to equip itself with an overarching and mandatory due diligence framework for the industry to identify, prevent, mitigate and account for environmental and social risks, impacts, abuses and harm, in its domestic and global activities, and across supply chains, in order to provide clarity on minimum standards and create a level playing field;
