Given the important changes to the working environment due to digitalisation, it is crucial to involve European workers and their representatives in the process in time to ensure that the social dimension of these changes is adequately taken into account; empathises that information and consultation rights of workers´ representation are essential to find solutions and to address upcoming social challenges, stresses, that thanks to co- determination opportunities and challenges of the digitalisation could be anticipated and handled in a positive manner for European workers; highlights that for this purpose the European Work Council Directive (2009/38/EC) and the directive establishing a general framework for informing and consulting employees in the European Community (2002/14/EG) should be modified in order to incorporate the field of digital transformation of the European industry;
