Appreciates that the social dimension is taken into account in the proposal, but regrets that it still does not have a central role in the strategy; stresses that the recent crisis has demonstrated that no strategy for growth can neglect the objectives of social protection, access to services, the fight against poverty and social exclusion and the creation of quality jobs are of fundamental importance for the social cohesion of Europe and must consequently be assigned higher priority in the EU2020 Strategy;
