Highlights the need to leverage private investments to address drivers of deforestation and to realise the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement; to this end, highlights the importance of a competitive regulatory environment and the need to fully involve stakeholders at all stages of the policy process; further, calls on the Commission to support and stimulate industry-driven innovation and initiatives to enhance sustainability in value chains;
